Johnstown Flood Memorial - Federal Highway Administration

This project involved resurfacing an asphalt parking lot and road way in addition to replacing all sidewalks and installing a handicap access ramp to the upper parking lot. Over the years Johnstown's harsh winters had taken a toll on the parking lot and drive. The original design also did not accommodate to handicapped or elderly visitors in the upper overflow parking lot. These were all addressed in the new design. Pigments in the concrete created the authentic earthy feel to the new sidewalks, curbs and masonry repointing that was completed. The asphalt paving was completed in multiple phases in order to handle the daily flow of traffic.

All work was completed while the museum was open to the public and did not hinder the museum from holding its annual memorial to those that were involved in the great Johnstown Flood.
